Emergency Assistance
Our emergency assistance program helps those facing evictions, utility shutoffs, security deposit issues, and other financial emergencies. Our trained team of volunteers are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm at 301-371-3119.
We provide emergency assistance to those living in the Middletown school feeder system which includes Middletown, Myersville and Wolfsville. If you live outside of these areas, then please contact the agencies in your area first.
Middletown Food Bank
We work closely with Middletown Food Bank, whose main goal is to alleviate hunger in our community by soliciting, collecting and distributing food and personal supplies through a pantry located at 301 West Main Street in Middletown. The food bank is supported by the local Zion Lutheran Church and other community organizations.
HOURS of OPERATION
Wednesdays 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Saturdays 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Visit the Food Bank’s website here to see the latest needs and instructions for making a monetary donation.
Transportation Assistance
Our transportation assistance program helps our neighbors get to medical appointments or any other important engagement for which they are otherwise unable to travel. Volunteers are available on an appointment basis - please call 301-371-3119 for scheduling assistance.
Please note, we now require our clients to be able to independently get in and out of the vehicle without assistance. The individual using our service, or their caregiver, will need to sign a waiver verifying their independent mobility as well as our volunteer program for transportation through MVPHP.
Weekend Food Backpack Program
We support, physically and financially, the Middletown United Methodist Church’s mission to supply weekend meals for children in the Middletown School feeder system. Currently, 130 students are served each week.
Senior Activities
We host a variety of activities for seniors, including exercise sessions and monthly luncheons. Weekly exercise is held on Thursdays at the Middletown AmVets building from 10am-11am, and the cost is $1 for each of the instructor and the AmVets. Gentle Yoga follows from 11am-12pm and the cost is $5 for the instructor and $1 for the AmVets. Participants need to show proof of covid vaccination to attend.
Senior lunches are held at the AmVets at noon on the second Thursday of each month for a cost of $10. Registration is required by the Sunday before Thursday’s luncheon. Call Dottie at 301-371-5170 to register. Lunch will begin at noon and will be followed by a program.
Note, there will be no yoga session on the second Thursday of the month as that is the day of the monthly luncheon.
Holiday Assistance
Each year, we embrace the holiday spirit by supporting families and donating toys to children, toiletries to teens, and grocery gift cards to parents.
Events
Each Spring, we host the Empty Bowls Banquet in collaboration with Middletown high school and local artists to help alleviate food insecurity for residents in our area.
Each Fall, we host the Holiday Craft Fair, featuring a wide assortment of hand-crafted items, to raise funds which go toward our Holiday Assistance program. Learn about our 2025 Craft Fair here.
